NORTHERN POWERGRID LAUNCHES SERIES OF NET ZERO LEADERS FORUMS FOR THE NORTH EAST, YORKSHIRE AND NORTHERN LINCOLNSHIRE

A new Leaders Forum has been developed to support region in working together to deliver a clean energy future.

The Net Zero Leaders Forum invites leaders from across government, business and the energy sector to be part of discussions to help shape plans that will ensure the region is united to deliver net zero carbon emissions by 2050 or sooner. Leaders in their field and those with innovative ideas are encouraged to take part.

The virtual series includes six events across Northern Powergrid’s region:

Northern Powergrid is the organisation responsible for the electricity network that powers region and its local economies. The company would like to welcome local leaders to the sessions, together with those who are also seeking to pioneer and support a clean energy future and economic growth.

Siobhan Barton, Northern Powergrid’s head of stakeholder relations, commented: “From transport and housing to local government and economic regeneration, we want to bring us together to help co-ordinate activities across the region. As we develop our business plans, we want to make sure our approach to the electricity network fully enables the scale and ambition of the counties we serve. These Forums are a great way of bringing ideas to the fore. We are eager for both leaders in their field and those with leading ideas to take a seat at the virtual table.”

The forums follow the launch of Northern Powergrid’s early stage thinking on its business direction, together with the launch of a dedicated interactive microsite where customers and stakeholders can outline their priorities for the future.
