Our customers are adopting, (and bringing onto our network) more and more low-carbon technology (LCT) (e.g. electric vehicles, heat pumps, distributed generation, etc.). At present, we forecast these volumes using a range of different planning tools and datasets across our network planning and operations activities. With ongoing changes to the policy landscape, economy, technology costs and customer behaviour, these planning tools require regular updates to ensure they remain accurate.
The project develops a forecasting tool for LCT growth, which will be easily updated, and coherent across functions. It will also provide an assessment of demand-side response potential for a geographical area.
